A Support CERT Member is a valued volunteer who contributes to the mission of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) in non-deployment or limited-response roles.
Support members may not regularly participate in field activations, but they play an essential role in strengthening the team and community preparedness efforts.
Support CERT Members typically:
-
Assist with administrative duties, including documentation, scheduling, and record keeping.
-
Help coordinate training events, outreach programs, and community education initiatives.
-
Support logistics, such as equipment organization, inventory management, and supply preparation.
-
Promote emergency preparedness within the community through awareness campaigns and public events.
-
Provide event support during drills, exercises, or community functions.
-
Maintain basic CERT training knowledge to understand team operations and support effectively when needed.
A Support CERT Member is an important part of the CERT family—strengthening the foundation behind the scenes so active responders can focus on serving the community safely and effectively.
